“BUY IT NOW!” price is an ADORABLE 17″ VINTAGE FACTORY ORIGINAL DEAN’S RAG BOOK DUTCH GIRL DOLL!
Dean’s Rag Book Company Ltd. was founded in 1903 in London, England, and they are best known for
making cloth dolls, however they also made composition dolls, mask face dolls,
books and toys; this particular doll combines their areas of expertise as she has both a painted composition head and cloth body—–she is just PRECIOUS!
She will steal your heart
with her sweetly molded composition head which has painted brown SCULPTED HAIR, full and subtly blushed ROSY CHEEKS, and a pronounced DOUBLE CHIN, and she is DRAMATICALLY PAINTED in deep rich colors including amber BROWN EYES with wispy painted SIDE EYELASHES and full painted RED LIPS!  Her MOLDED EARS have small round metal pins in them; at first we thought these were earrings but after doing some research realized they were inserted at the factory to hold
Made in ENGLAND circa 1935 to 1940, she is dressed in her adorable FACTORY ORIGINAL ensemble consisting of a Lenci style dress made of thick felt that has a pink bodice with gold trim and turquoise blue skirt with gold and pink trim.  Underneath she wears her original off white cotton lace trimmed “ONESIE” and original ecru COTTON SOCKS with her original matching FELT SHOES that are fashioned turned up at the toes in typical DUTCH STYLE!   The dress is overall in good condition with the colors still vibrant, but there are a couple of small holes in the felt that are not distracting.  She originally had a Dutch hat that would have been turned up on each side, but
we will include a cute white cotton knit boater style hat with dainty colorful embroidered flowers that looks adorable on her!
Her molded composition ears have small
round metal pins in them; at first we thought these were earrings but
after doing some research realized they were inserted at the factory to attach her original Dutch girl’s hat to her head—-somehow the hat still managed to disappear over the years!
Her original STUFFED CLOTH body is jointed at the neck, upper arms and legs, and her hands have INDIVIDUALLY STITCHED lines between her fingers and and a separately formed thumb; there are no marks that we can see.  Although her head is jointed it turns just slightly without full rotation, but other than some overall minor age wear including age related paint wear to her head and minimal crazing, she is in otherwise DISPLAY READY condition for your collection!
